BURPS
2009
BURPS Background
BURPS was established in March 2000 and is made up entirely of people with first hand experience of a child who has been cared for by NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit). The group aim to provide practical and emotional support for parents and relatives during their stay in NICU and, just as importantly, once they have taken their babies home.
BURPS try to give support and help in the following ways:
* Provide someone to talk to who has been there before. * Assist with travelling to NICU if possible. * Meet with a friendly face for a coffee and a chat during the long days/evenings. * Support fathers who feel isolated and distant due to work commitments. * Help you in preparing to go home and follow this up with our support if you wish.
BURPS are still there to support you in the weeks, months, and years following babies release from NICU
BURPS not only offer practical support for parents and relatives, but also help pay for various pieces of equipment through fund raising and donations.
